At Elite Vision Eyecare, serving Maywood, NJ, and the nearby region, we help patients who have a variety of eye diseases manage their conditions. It may optimize your vision or slow the progression. We even offer co-management to allow us, along with another practitioner, to better manage your condition.
Part of the management of eye diseases consists of eye exams. We can then detect problems with both distance and up-close vision. For diseases that cause progressive changes in your eyesight, we can continuously monitor the changes and intervene as necessary. This may mean changing your eyewear prescription, recommending a certain kind of contact, or referring you for surgery.
Comprehensive Eye Health Evaluations
When you come to us, we'll provide you with an eye health evaluation. This may consist of a test for glaucoma or looking inside your eye through a special device to assess certain components inside of your eye. We can then diagnose your eye disease. This can also be part of a continual evaluation to monitor progression.
Treating the Problem
Once we have an accurate glimpse at your problem, we can then provide you with a treatment approach especially for your condition. It could consist of medicated eye drops to manage or slow the progression. The treatment may be comprised of corrective eyewear to improve your eyesight. Lifestyle advice is sometimes part of the treatment plan.
With this, our practitioner can help you navigate life better despite your diagnosis. For instance, it may consist of using brighter lights or removing certain rugs from your home to prevent falls, among other possibilities.
Besides just using the information we find through our evaluation, we may also work with another practitioner to better manage your condition. We refer to this as co-management.
Types of Eye Diseases We Manage
Our eye doctor can diagnose and help with various eye conditions that can affect your comfort and vision. For example, we can help if you have glaucoma, which can involve high pressure from the fluid inside your eye. Another condition we can help treat is cataracts. This happens when you have clouding in the lens of your eye. We can also treat diabetic retinopathy, which is when there's damage to the blood vessels in the retina due to diabetes.
